Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in strength within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and presented the first table of characters who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.
This warrior group includes the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Given 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.
This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
As described by the DM, the warrior group is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are rare.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might appear out of place, but the actions of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the team knows exactly where to head next after a intense initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose death started the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.
The traitor then cleared his liabilities and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each member has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and trusted friend, wants revenge.
- Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
- The warrior and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their reputation as important members in the influential clan could help the group enter areas they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character pledged a eternal obligation to Wicander for his salvation and will now accompany him wherever.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule the setting for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The healer defied the influential house and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the clan.
This leaves them few options but to travel to the northern region in quest for Casimir.
Future Episodes
According to episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the combat party won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Questers and Strategists groups.
